the Luchessa River
Our specialists have investigated one of the former crossings on the Luchessa River in full details. That crossing was based on a heavy pontoon set N2P. That time it was the only type of pontoon capable of handling a load of up to 60 metric tons. It was both an advantage and a disadvantage that those pontoons were made without a deck. It allowed using each pontoon independently of one another for transferring army personnel or equipment over the river, if needed. However, a group of pontoons coupled to each other could be swamped with waves during combat activities, and as a result two or more flooded pontoons drowned an entire crossing instantly.
Five semi-pontoons were found during our search. Two of them were found in good enough conditions and recovered.
In total there were produced about 125 complete sets of N2P pontoons.
